Light painter, Eric Staller

A couple of weeks ago Theresa and I were riding along Mission Creek when we saw this strange domed boat parked next to the Swan.  And then yesterday I saw an article on SFGate "Bubbleboat prepares to amaze on the bay" along with a Vimeo.  I wish I'd seen it in action last night!

Well, all that got me interested in the artist, which of course led to articles about him . . . and his own web site, ericstaller.com.  Check it out.

Floors, uncovered

I've been putting rugs on top of dirty rugs for years and years because it was so hard to do anything else . . . but, finally, I decided this is the summer I do nothing else except deal with my Stuff.  After moving absolutely everything moveable out of two rooms, Jason uncovered the old Douglas Fir pine sub-flooring, removed ugly paint around the edges, sanded and Polyurethaned it into what you see above.  He also put some insulation underneath it.  Now I'm waiting for the new, smaller sofa to be delivered next week, and then will shop for area rugs.  In the meantime, I've gone through all the things in the basement, ready to take a car full to the thrift store for recycling. Well done!

High school reunion with iPad in tow

I had a lot of fun at my Carlmont High School class reunion yesterday.  I took my iPad along and took a lot of pictures of the goings-on, and of the great venue in a car museum in San Carlos called The Great Highway.  Terrific ambience and lovely people. (Perhaps some of us get better with age?)

New Exploratorium

Last Saturday I got to go to the new Exploratorium's preview for members, thanks to my friend Kit.  We first had brunch at Pier 23 because her tickets were for 2:00-5:00, and we didn't know if the Exploratorium had a cafe, or if it did, if it would be open (it does, it was).  I brought my big camera and wasn't disappointed at all the wonderful sights to shoot.

Riding for crepe's sake

Yesterday, I cleaned my old clothes out of drawers and the closet, two big bags full, including my Velo Girls' team kit from a few years ago.  I feel bad about giving it to the thrift store, but who would want it, I wonder?

Today, I went for my usual Saturday ride around the waterfront, over Ft. Mason and into the Book Bay.  I bought a beautiful photography book by Ruth Orkin. "A Photo Journal."  I was reading it in amongst the shelves, but my stomach was growling for lunch.  It wasn't until I was riding up Polk St. that I came across a good place to eat that didn't have a crowd waiting.  This crepes chef on the sidewalk drew me in . . . .

Feels like spring

Here it is, March already, and this is my first post of the year.  I've been enjoying myself, doing what I always do: riding, taking pictures, learning more technical stuff, going to classes, watching my birds.
A few weeks ago, I got two male zebra finches to keep Sibyl company.  Not sure how much she cares for the company, one way or the other, but I'm certainly enjoying them.  They're so cute!  (But very hard to photograph.)
